Palshus Guesthouse is well located in Skerjafjordur, across the Reykjavik domestic airport. From our guesthouse there are many interesting walking destinations, such as Reykjavik City Center, Nautholsvik-geothermally heated beach, The Pearl viewpoint and the old lighthouse at Grótta. This tour includes the most significant places in the capital and surrounding towns. Only a few places are listed below. We visit the presidential residence at Bessastaðir as well as Hafnarfjörður, the town where the ´hidden people` and humans live together in harmony. We pay a visit to the old fishing harbour and when possible, the fish market. In Reykjavik we go to restaurant Perlan, which is built on water tanks that hold the city’s hot water supply. There we can enjoy the spectacular view over Reykjavík and it’s surroundings.
We go to Höfði house where the all-important summit between President Ronald Reagan and Secretary General Mikhail Gorbachev took place in 1986. We visit the University area, the old town centre where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi is situated, the town hall and the pond Tjörnin, frequently visited by families feeding the birds all year around. Hallgrímskirkja church and the garden where the sculpture Einar Jónsson kept his work, inspired by the Nordic mythology and paganism. We will show you the sports and recreation area in Laugardalur, a geothermal heated outdoor swimming pool and sculptures crafted by Ásmundur Sveinsson. Guests are dropped off at their hotels or restaurants of their own choice.
