Helga Pálína Brynjólfsdóttir

For years, textile artist Helga Pálína has experimented with embroidering directly into rocks—bringing vibrant color to the earthy grey-brown shades of palagonite tuff—as well as working with both old and new timber. She carves, weaves, and punctures the materials, drawing out unique sculptural lines and forms. At her Pálshús exhibition, Helga Pálína uses thread to weave new narratives into stone and wood. She pays tribute to nature and history, reinterpreting them through vivid colors and fine embroidery. The dialogue extends to vintage photographs and archival documents, giving them a fresh dimension.

Past and future, soft and hard, feminine and masculine, ancient earth and roaring modern technology join together in a captivating dance.
