Joris Rademaker
Joris’s exhibition, titled “Featherweight,” highlights his unique artistic process. Based in Akureyri since 1991, the Dutch artist has spent recent years creating artwork from bird feathers and organic elements—such as angelica, driftwood, and birch—foraged on his nature walks. His work aims to illuminate the deep-seated bond between nature and the self. Joris has featured in many solo and group exhibitions, including a 2019 group show at the Akureyri Art Museum showcasing pieces made from migratory feathers, as well as the 2017–2018 “StórÍsland” exhibition at Reykjavík Art Museum. His latest solo shows include “Um vöxt” at Mjólkurbúðin in Akureyri and “Rekinn á land” at Segull 67 in Siglufjörður.
